Why was MSMA banned? ›

MSMA has faced regulatory restrictions and bans primarily due to its environmental and health risks. The main reasons for these regulatory actions include: Environmental Impact: MSMA contains arsenic, a heavy metal that can persist in the environment and contaminate soil and water.
