Drug smuggling ring' smashed in Mexico TIJUANA, Mexico (P) Federal police and army troops have smashed what they said was a giant heroin smuggling ring operated by inmates inside La Mesa Penitentiary in this border city. A Mexican government spokesman said the ring may have been bigger than the one in the "French Connecion" case and had connections in Mexico, the United States, France, Canada and Peru.

U.S. authorities said the operation may have become the major American outlet for French after the "French Connection" Marseilles via America to the U.S.-ring was broken up. A Drug Enforcement Administration spokesman said the ring dealt in hahish, heroin, cocaine and "tons of marijuana." "We knew about this outfit for. years but it's even on a larger scale than we expected," the DEA spokesman said. Investigators said the ring might have been' operating for 15 years, although not necessarily inside the prison all that time.

The ringleaders were believed to be Helen C. Hernandez, 39; her husband, Roberto; and his brother, Juan. authorities said. They each have served four years of 11-year terms for dug smug.gling.: Federal police found $30,000 in America money, $100.060 worth of jewelry and elaborate telephone codes and drug transaction records listing 75 major distributors in the Ilernandez' quarters. The raid took place Thursday in this city 20 miles south of San Diego, Calif.

i In Mexico, prisoners can live in quarters other than cells and keep some private property. The ringleaders apparently had access to a telephone. The three arrested Thursday were indicted with 48 others in San Diego in 1968 after a million dollar seizure of heroin and cocaine at the border. All three were convicted and sentenced to 11 years in prison. OCTOBER 20, 1974 15-C 15 Funeral Directors 5 Funeral Directors Drath Nutires DAILY ISSUES Received until P.M.-All Editions 11 P.M.

1973 Mom bade no one else a last farewell She said goodove to none, The Heavenly angels gathered near, And a loving voice said, Cone. But we will meet again some day. And never more io part. And the sorrow will he lifted, From a sad and aching heart. LOVING When God Created you, dear one.

HA made a perfect thing, That sent a gust of joy thru Heav'n, And made the choirs sing. He took a ray of sunshine, And a bit of angel's smile; He dipped into the brightness. Of the Cherubs' stardust pile. He added sweetest fragrance, From the of the sky, With a final dash of whiteness, From a cloudiet passing by. God had given us to choose, Our mother, at our birth.
