Small change in "definitive" attendance: Mrs miro will not attend as she is being sent abroad by her company. I am coming with a skiing co-worker, of non-FT variety, though. We'll probably stay in downtown SLC, as hotel prices in Park City are quite steep and I don't have enough hotel points accumulated to get these nights as an award stay.
Did we choose the venue for apres-ski already?

So what are we doing?
Mr. platbrownguy, as the organizer of this DO, have you come up with an itinerary for us? The dates are rapidly approaching, and this being my first FT DO, I'm just curious how we're actually going to do this.

I sent platbrownguy a PM, just in case he logs on to F/T but doesn't immediately hit this thread.

We would certainly love to come--poor Hunki has not had anywhere near enough opportunities to ski this year--but, unfortunately, we will spend most of March flying back and forth to Las Vegas for work-related reasons.
Darned work!

How significant are the discounts from the SLC ski shops? I have a res for my arrival on Thurs, 3/10 at the Hampton Inn in Park City. The Park City Marriott wasn't available that night, and I figured that it will be nice to save a few $$$ for one evening.
But now I'm starting to wonder if I should get a res in SLC for Thurs nite, then hit a ski shop in SLC first thing Fri morning, to ensure we don't miss one if our flight is delayed. Now that Suz and Oasin will be with me and both will be skiing, the discount is more important to me. Plus I can save about $60 on a hotel near the airport over what I would have paid @ Hampton Inn.

I would go for the SLC a/port hotel TH nite and go for a ski rental in Prk Cty Fri AM.#1 u said it-Hotels near a/port-slc lot cheaper thatn Park-as u won't have any advantage to staying in Park Th nite,(Hampton Inn and Suites@a/port is nice big rooms w/fold up sofa sleeper and nice free bkfst. I pd around $60 for room 2 wks ago.) #2 The rental discounts at ski shops-Utah Ski and Golf, Canyon Sports, Ski&see, etc. are same whether in SLC or Park City. If u wait till Park City to rent skis/snowboard you won't have to rent a car w/a ski rack on top which adds more to the cost, since more than likely we'll probably be skiing at Canyons /Prk Cty/Deer Valley and u don't need ski rack for that. Most ski shops give a discount if u rent skis for 3 days.Check my earlier posts about getting ski shop discounts but if u stay at ANY hotel in SLC they will most likely have flyers with shi shop coupons. At least u can save $$ Thrsday nite that way.

I see the wisdom of waiting until Park City to rent equipment. I was thinking about the discounted lift tickets. They should be much cheaper in SLC, and won't take up much room in the car!

Yes,if u can buy tickts in slc,by all means. However, there might be a place that sells themin prk cty at discount, just not as much. We bought them for $60 vs 55 in slc. It's the canyon sports on empire ave, close to base of park city ski kifts.Actually inside the condo complex, they offered them to us at that price which is cheper than $69 window price. U might be able to order these online and they mail to u, but thats probably toomuch of hassle. I would think some of the locals that will bejoining us and couple that are out there ahead of time would be able toget us discounted tickets ahead of time if they trust us topay them back!

I'm staying in downtown SLC. My hotel has discount tix, and there are ski shops nearby with often better discounts. I'm happy to buy for anyone who needs for Sat or Sun, but I'm working Friday, so you're on your own for that day.

Any plans for dinner times/places on Friday and Sunday? I'm still trying to figure out what my travel plans will be and am curious what dinner venues are being considered.

I'm trying to update post #7 to be the comprehensive thread. It's the earliest one I have, and I don't think we can wait for platbrownguy to organize this. I'm reviewing every single post we have in an attempt at accuracy.
Someone mentioned the Porcupine Grill. I think that's the only suggestion we've had so far for dinner. Do we want to plan on this for sure? Sat nite?
Since sxpsxpsxp and my gang will be staying @ the Marriott, and I won't be skiing, I will recommend that we meet there for apres ski on Friday and Saturday, say 5PM - 7PM? Is that good apres ski times?
Anyone up for brunch on Sunday?

That porcupine grill is down at either entrance to snowbird/alta or solitue/brighton; I didn't go back and check. Nonetheless, that's 45 mins away from park city, so if we would be skiiing @ prkcty, that migh not be best. Guess we have to figure where toski each day. If youare happy with intermediate runs as your peak, then park city-canyons-deer valley would be the place to go, especially deer valley, probably the best-groomed resort in the country. If some of us would want more advanced skiing jumping off cliffsweaving thru trees, stuff like that, then maybe those go to snowbird/alta one day and hit that restrnt one night. I guessing most will want to go park the 1st day especially if staying there.
