Monsters of the Multiverse seeks to revise each creature and race it describes, bringing more balanced and easy-to-use stat blocks. Updated formats make monsters more efficient to run for the veteran Dungeon Master and easy to pick up for the new.

Monsters of the Multiverse (MotM) features a massive bestiary of new and updated creatures for D&D, which includes a total of 33 new races that players can use for characters. Those new races are the part that jumps out at me while I'm reading the book.

The book itself is excellent in my opinion. It describes itself as a companion to the Monster Manual there I'd agree with that assessment. It is still essentially a rehash of the other books though, and so it's unlikely to add much if you've already have those.

If you can only get one, get the MM. It's got all the basic, most common monsters in the game. But if you can get both, get both. They're two separate books with no overlap, you'll definitely need the monster manual first though.

Unless and until we obtain experimental evidence in favor of a theory in which the laws of physics can vary from one region of the universe to another, any talk of other universes with different laws of physics is purely speculative, and should be treated as such. The universe is an amazing place.

The book also contains over thirty playable races that can be used for characters. Monsters of the Multiverse has over two hundred and fifty monsters, which is more than any other 5e book, save for the Monster Manual.
